Krimml Waterfalls
Breathtaking – Europe’s largest waterfalls. Experience up close the unbridled force of the element of water!
Summer: An average of 5.6 m3 of water per second plummets into the valley over the three stages of falls with an entire waterfall drop of 380 m. The Krimml Ache is the source of the Krimml Waterfalls. It begins at the end of the Krimml Ache valley and first gently flows through approx. 20 km of level alpine ground, then becomes a thunderous glacial stream at the entrance to the valley before plunging down in the mighty stages.
The waterfall trail (open in summer): Reach the lowest waterfall on foot in 10 to 15 minutes. From there the serpentine Waterfall Trail leads up to the uppermost waterfall (approx. 1.15 hours on foot) and further to the Krimml Ache Valley. Observation platforms thereby provide spectacular views of the thunderous volumes of water of the Krimml Waterfalls.
Winter: They are a unique natural spectacle not only in summer. Due to the shady location, only a few rays of sunlight reach the waterfalls and thus beautiful ice formations are created at appropriate temperatures. In winter, it is possible to visit the lowest waterfall.
